Would you like to help the Welsh Dee Trust monitor the health the River Dee catchment by becoming a SmartRivers volunteer?
The SmartRivers project involves identifying river invertebrates to species level and the presence and abundance of these species is then used to determine the overall health of the river. This event is a one-day course that will give you the necessary training to become one of our SmartRivers volunteers.
During the training day you will learn all about the SmartRivers project and will be identifying river invertebrates to species level. Once you have completed the training you can become one of our SmartRivers volunteers and join us at one of our 3 hubs along the Dee catchment — River Alyn, River Ceiriog and the Aldford brook. In each of the hubs we hold regular identification days held roughly once a month, where volunteers sort and identify invertebrate samples.
