Join us as we take to the water to tackle single use pollution in the River Dee.
Welsh Dee Trust are organising regular clean ups to help keep the river clear of plastic and other rubbish. Despite the fantastic work we have been doing with volunteers on the riverbank, it’s impossible to reach some pollution trapped at the waterline or floating on the water. That’s why we are running some stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) river cleans. These are being supported by local business SUP Lass Paddle Adventures, who are providing all the SUP equipment, training and water safety.
Each session will be on the water for between 2 – 2.5 hours, so you will need to be comfortable kneeling for extended periods of time. This event may be postponed if river levels are dangerously high on the day. Paddleboards, PFD’s, and clean-up equipment will be provided.
Young people aged between 10 and 18 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This project is funded by the Government’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm’s-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England, the Environment Agency and Forestry Commission.
