At Welsh Dee Trust we are looking for a volunteer to help with our communications and social media. The opportunity will be home-based and can therefore be filled by an individual anywhere in the UK.

About Welsh Dee Trust: 

A member of the wider Rivers Trust movement; The Welsh Dee Trust is a small independent charity working to restore the brooks, streams, and rivers of the Dee catchment for both wildlife and people. This is a new voluntary position working with our CEO to create bilingual social media and other communications to demonstrate the work of the trust.

Position Overview: 

The communications and social media assistant will create each week, bilingual social media posts for the Welsh Dee Trust. This will involve talking to members of staff at Welsh Dee Trust, identifying a theme for the week and creating relevant social media content. The content will explain the work undertaken by the Welsh Dee Trust, raise issues around the challenges faced by the River Dee and help to engage more supporters for the charity. This position would suit an individual looking to build a career in either the environmental or communications sector.

Responsibilities and Duties

Meet with staff members of Welsh Dee Trust once a week online to identify potential communication themes.

Create social media content to be posted on Welsh Dee Trust Social media.

Knowledge and Experience:


Knowledge of the variety of social media and other communication outlets.

Access to a computer and internet connection.

Ability to use Windows/Microsoft Office.


Welsh-speaking. (There is potential for translation to be provided by other staff members of Welsh Dee Trust. So while the posts will need to be bilingual, speaking welsh is not essential but is highly desirable.)

Knowledge of the environmental challenges faced by UK rivers.

Experience creating and editing videos.
