Welcome to our new Programme Manager- Tarik Bodasing.

Tarik Bodasing has been hired as our new Programme Manager of our Restoring River Habitat Programme and joins the Welsh Dee Trust fresh from working on river restoration projects in the Midlands region. Tarik was born and raised in South Africa, where he obtained a Masters in Applied Ecology at the University of KwaZulu Natal, working primarily with large mammals in savanna ecosystems.

He is committed to landscape-scale conservation efforts and has worked as an ecologist in several countries for state, NGO and charity sectors.  Since moving to the UK, he has worked on conservation projects for both North Wales and Warwickshire Wildlife Trusts. Tarik currently resides in the Ceiriog Valley within the Dee River catchment with his wife and two children.

The position is a new one for Welsh Dee Trust after a reorganization of our work into five distinct programmes at the beginning of 2020. The Restoring River Habitat programme will help the wildlife of the Dee recover by restoring natural processes and connectivity of the Dee and its tributaries.  This will involve planting woodlands on the riverbank, increasing in-stream diversity and cover, and removing barriers to fish migration. Through this work, we can improve the habitat and allow all river wildlife to thrive.
