Welsh Dee Trust wins award!

The Welsh Dee Trust, has been honoured as a 2024 Weston Charity Awards winner. This prestigious recognition underscores the impact of the Trust’s ongoing efforts and future ambitions.

As a recipient of the award, the Welsh Dee Trust will receive strategic planning support from a team of four business experts through the pro bono services of charity Pilotlight. Additionally, the Trust will benefit from a core grant of £6,500 provided by the Garfield Weston Foundation.

Peter Powell from the Welsh Dee Trust expressed his enthusiasm about the recognition, stating, “It’s great to see the future ambitions of Welsh Dee Trust recognised in this way. The River Dee is such a special river, full of rare wildlife and enjoyed by local communities. We want to make tangible improvements on the ground that the river needs to reverse its decline, and this award will be a great help in achieving our aspirations.”

Sophia Weston, Deputy Chair of Trustees at the Garfield Weston Foundation, congratulated the Trust, saying, “In today’s world, the challenges facing communities are more complex than ever. We’re proud to partner with Pilotlight to support the 24 outstanding charities selected, who are finding innovative ways to combat issues ranging from rising inequality to threats to our natural environment.”

With this award, the Welsh Dee Trust is poised to make significant strides in its mission to protect and enhance the River Dee, ensuring it remains a vibrant and healthy ecosystem for future generations.
